Blues Instructors at MezzJelly

We always ask a fresh group of high-quality instructors to create new classes for you, so every year you learn more. This year you'll expand your Blues knowledge with these well-rounded classes taught by the following:

Devona Cartier (New York, NY)
A nationally recognized instructor, and 1st place Winner in Jack & Jill Competitions at Down Home Blues (SF '06) and Jammin the Blues (DC '06).

Her ultimate goal is to express the rhythms, styles, feels, and tones of the music with and through the partner, while changing with the changing music.

Jewel Murray (Washington, DC)

Jewel is an original member of the HooDoo Ladies Blues troupe, the all-girl performance group performing their amazing dances at the '06 Cheap Thrills and '07 Blueshout.

Karissa Light (Seattle, WA)

A 6 year veteran with an extensive Solo Blues background, during which time, she's travelled and danced extensively around the world. If you fit the following two demands, you may want to take her Solo Blues classes: 1) you are a female or male 2) you enjoy moving your body.

Joshua Boroff (New York, NY)

Back by popular demand from MJBW '06, Joshua's style leads you into vintage-inspired movements, driven by a hard backbone of Delta blues. Most recently he taught at the Austin Blues Party in July.

John Lozano (Cleveland, OH)
"John Lozano is fluid and formless, indeed... What I was most impressed with about with his style was how unique and at the same time accessible it is. [John] fits into any blues environment, which is both very difficult and very important in our current scene." (Friday Night Blues)

He brings his history as a major influence in home-town Detroit and the national scene for over 9 years, plus a featured instructor at numerous Blues events.
