The greatest music ever made for dancingOur Live Bands and top DJs know how to light up the
dance floor with the best in the Motown roots, true Funk,
modern and classic R&B, Blues, Hip Hop...it's the hottest kind of
dance party. Live Soul BandsWe've got heart-pounding Dallas bands, playing authentic Soul:
Soul Revue feat. Bobby PattersonBobby Patterson is a Soul legend who started performing in the 1950's, and carries on the soul-blues tradition just like Al Green, James Brown, Bobby 'Blue' Bland, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, and Sam & Dave. In addition to performing on the stage, he produces albums and DJs on Soul 73, the Dallas Soul Radio Station. Also featuring Lou Hampton, an icon of Dallas R&B, Jackie Don Loe, a leading Blues headliner, Mike Fuget and young Darren Denney on the skins - these guys ARE Soul music.
Big Charles Young"He can ignite a packed house of people into a frenzy." - Bill Fountain"If I had to pick one artist around here...it would be Big Charles Young." - R.L. Griffin Big Charles sang Gospel in church in his youth, and started sneaking into Blues clubs at age 11. Now, his ass-shakin Soul music plays all over France, Australia, and elsewhere. We can't wait for him and his band to bring down the Soul house at MezzJelly! Top Soul DJsThese are some bad mothas. They got soul, and are some of our
favorite DJs:
Brooke Filsinger - TorontoBrooke needs little introduction if you've been to events in Canada. She loves full-bodied, 'scrumpditiliumptious' Soul music, the kind that you can really sink your teeth into. Her ultimate goal? To have her very own coca-cola machine... but just as much she'd like to play the stuff that makes you have to dance all night long.
Lila Desatoff - Orange CountyLila is best known for teaching dance for over 30 years,
and being
married to and lecturing with the Late Willie "Mr. Balboa" Desatoff.
Now we find some of her other talents: She has been enjoying
and collecting music since long before most of you were born.
She has a diverse collection of Soul music from all eras, and
will be on hand to share her knowledge with us.
Lo Agdinaoay - ClevelandLo is one of our favorite DJs. He welcomes any chance to
play for dancers who want music with a little grease and a
whole lotta soul,
and he’s as versatile as they come… If you want it, Lo’s got it; if Lo
doesn’t have it, he’ll go get it; if he can’t find it, you probably
didn’t want to hear it anyways ;) You may have heard some of his stuff
at MezzJelly Waterloo Blues, or exchanges in Florida, Atlanta,
Columbus, and Denver.
Jim Wheatley - AtlantaJim's love for Soul, Blues and Gospel Music became
evident back when he DJed dances during his high school days,
all the way to 1999
when, as a DJ at “Swingers” in Atlanta during the
days of neo-Swing, he still managed to pepper his playlists with tunes
from James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Jr. Walker, Al Green and the Swan
Silvertones. Good man.
Jered Morin - DallasAn 8-year DJ veteran, he has held
many House DJ slots plus
been invited around the US & Canada. Jered stocks his sets with
the power of "oomph", mixing all-era Soul,
energetic Funk, hard-driving Swing and earthy Blues which keeps dancers
going
around the clock.
